Joel Bertsch
After graduating from Coeur d’Alene High School Joel enrolled in the Auto Mechanics program at NIC. While there he met the son of a man who was starting an HVAC Company. Joel ended up switching vocations and worked for that company for the next 12 years. Over the following 8 years he worked for two commercial mechanical companies here in Coeur d’Alene. Then in 2005 he started his own business. For the first couple of years he was the only employee. He answered the phones, did the mechanical work and the billing. The original business phone number was his cell phone and is still his cell phone number. Today the company has grown to over 30 employees. Although his role has changed
Kim Bertsch
Kim is a Coeur d’Alene native and a Bookkeeper. She married into the HVAC industry and has contributed so much to our success and growth. When not at work she loves to read and go boating or camping with family. She recently became a Grandma! Team Member since 2017
Danny grew up in Estacada Oregon. His Grandpa was in the HVACR industry and Danny appreciated the quality of life his Grandpa had. He entered an apprenticeship program and ended up owning his own HVAC business in Clackamas for several years. Danny and his high school sweetheart and their two kids moved to Coeur d’Alene a few months ago. They love the four seasons that Idaho has to offer and the significantly less rainfall than in Oregon. When not at work he enjoys hanging out with his family, hunting, fishing, or watching his kids play basketball. Team member since 2023.
Angela is originally from Portland Oregon where she worked in the insurance industry. Eight years ago she married her husband and moved to his hometown of Coeur d’Alene. Her background is in hiring/recruiting, marketing, team building and being a brand ambassador. She has a blended family of five children, two grandchildren and two dogs. Music is a big part of her life and she is an avid shopper. Team Member since 2021.
Brian is Coeur d’Alene native and graduate of Lake City High School. He worked as a millwright in a sawmill where his employer sent him to school to learn electrical. He then spent several years working in a steel mill. Eventually he and his family made their way back to Idaho and to JA Bertsch. In his off time he enjoys bass fishing and camping with his family. Team Member since 2021.
Dannette “Danney” was born and raised in Astoria OR. She later moved to Olympia, WA where she started her career in electrical and became a Journeyman. She moved to Coeur d’Alene a few years ago so that her three sons could live in a smaller town. In her spare time she enjoys fishing, hunting and camping. Team Member since 2022.
After serving 4 years in the US Army Luke worked as an electrician. One day his boss asked him to learn how to fabricate ducting and the rest is history. Luke is a Journeyman and is the Manager of our Install Department. In his spare time you will find him out hunting or fishing. Team Member since 2014.
Stephen is originally from Kalispell Montana. He lived in CA for a few years where he met his wife. Once they had kids they decided to move to a more rural setting. Coeur d’Alene was the perfect choice. He got into HVAC kind of by accident but ended up liking it. He is a Journeyman Install Technician and our Install Field Supervisor. When not at work he and his family enjoy hunting, fishing, camping and barbecueing. Team Member since 2022.
When Stephanie interviewed with Joel in 2014 she was struck by his honesty and integrity. She accepted his job offer and since then has been our biggest customer service advocate. When she isn’t at work she is probably out bass fishing or playing with her two grandbabies! Team Member since 2014.
April is a former Low Voltage Electrician from Oregon. She moved to Idaho and found that HVAC was a natural step for her so she joined the apprenticeship program. She says the best part of the job is that every day is different. In her spare time April enjoys cooking especially trying new recipes. Team Member since 2019.
A Native of Sandpoint and an artist. Burk started at JA Bertsch as an apprentice. He recently completed his training and is now a certified Journeyman. Burk says he meets the nicest people through his work! Team Member since 2016.
Chris has been working with Joel since 2007 when he joined the company and married Joel’s daughter. Chris is a Journeyman and has always enjoyed building things so HVAC was a great fit. Team Member since 2007.
Jeff was born in Kootenai County. He graduated from Lakeland High School and enlisted in the US Navy. His Stepfather is the reason he tried out HVAC . He loves problem solving so it was a natural fit. He has been married for 18 years and has three children. In his spare time he and his family will be found in the outdoors. Team member since 2023.
Jesse was born and raised in Plummer Idaho. After graduating from high school he worked for a commercial HVAC company that traveled throughout the Northwest. He decided he liked the work so he enrolled in the North Idaho College HVAC program. While going to NIC he worked weekends on the HVAC Crew at the Coeur d’Alene Casino. He is only a few months away from getting his Journeyman license. When he is not at work he and his best friend Gretchen enjoy hunting for shed. Gretchen is a beautiful healer/ lab mix. Josh was born in Virginia and grew up in a Navy family. He started high school in Pennsylvania and finished in Silverdale, Washington. He then served in the Air Force, where he was a Munitions Specialist. Josh met his wife, who was from Rathdrum, ID and eventually moved here. He is enrolled in the North Idaho College HVAC program and is working here as an Apprentice. He and his wife are incredibly busy with their five children who are all into sports. Occasionally they do get a date night and will see a movie or a concert. Team Member since 2022.
Justin’s sister had a neighbor who was in HVAC and he convinced Justin it was a trade that could provide a great career for a lifetime. He tried it out and found that he liked it. Justin and his wife live in a tiny home that they built themselves on her family’s property in Rathdrum. In their spare time they enjoy computer gaming and bowling. They have three cats. When Amanda was two her parents decided to move to Kellogg where her grandparents lived. She grew up in Elizabeth Park and graduated from Kellogg High School. She then joined the US Army where she became an IT Specialist. After the Army she moved to Coeur d’Alene. She volunteers with a Pet Rescue in Rathdrum and has 2 dogs, 2 cats and 2 fish. Dog training is her favorite hobby. Team Member since 2023
Miranda has lived in Coeur d’Alene since she was seven. She has an extensive background in customer service and worked for 8 years as a Veterinary Technician. The thing she likes most about her job is making connections with people. She has two daughters and two dogs. When not at work she loves to take mountain drives and have movie nights with her girls. Teralyn was born and raised in Coeur d’Alene and will always be an Idaho girl at heart. She loves her three dogs, fishing, snowboarding and being crafty! Team Member since 2020.
Tara is a native of Coeur d’Alene and was a customer before she became an employee five years ago. Her desk is in the showroom and she loves it when people come in to say hi. Outside of work she likes to camp and hike with her dog Murray. Team Member since 2018.
Blaine was shoeing a horse one day when the horse’s owner asked him if he could fix a furnace. Turns out he was better at fixing furnaces than shoeing horses. That was 27 years ago and he has never looked back. Team Member since 2013.
John graduated from Lake City High School and then joined the Air Force. He became an aircraft electrician then worked in avionics on the F35 aircraft. After 6 years he returned home and joined the family business. John worked in install and service for a few years and is now in sales. Team Member since 2018.
Tim was a breeder of pythons and other reptiles that were used in educational programs for kids. He then at the request of his wife joined a friend in the HVAC business. That was 21 years ago but he still looks for reptiles wherever he goes! Tim is the Manager of our Service Department. Team Member since 2020.
Brian grew up in Marysville Washington where he started running duct work at age 16 working for a family friend. He liked the work so he pursued it. Eight years ago he and his wife moved to Coeur d’Alene to be closer to her family. They now have two daughters. In his spare time he likes to hunt, fish, snowmobile and race cars. Team Member since 2023.
Eric is originally from Vancouver Washington. He earned his bachelors degree in Forestry from the University of Idaho in Moscow. While in college he worked in building maintenance and discovered a love for HVAC. He later went on to trade school and is now an HVAC Technician. Eric, his wife and daughter moved to Coeur d’Alene for his wife’s career. In their spare time they enjoy hanging out at the beach or going to the park. Team member since 2022.
Eric started in the HVAC industry in Virginia where oil furnaces are very common, these and boilers became his specialty. He moved to Idaho to be with the love of his life….lucky for us she lived in Coeur d’Alene. Eric and his wife now have two children. Team Member since 2019.
James graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School and KTEC as a CNA. He eventually decided that working as a CNA was not for him. He then worked in the trades as a roofer and a framer but was intrigued by HVAC. He is in our training program to work in HVAC Service. While living in Missouri for a while he met his wife. Because of their mutual love of the outdoors and dislike of humidity they moved to Coeur d’Alene. They like to spend their spare time paddle boarding, fishing, hunting and hiking with their two dogs. Jesse was born and raised in Emmett Idaho. He got into the industry when a family friend offered him a job. He enjoyed the work so pursued his Journeyman license through a school in Boise. He has worked in both the Magic Valley and the Treasure Valley areas of Idaho. He recently moved to Northern Idaho and joined our team. He and his wife enjoy outdoor activities such as snowboarding, fishing and hiking. Team Member since 2021.
Sean is a second generation Idahoan and graduate of Coeur d’Alene High School. He was working in the restaurant industry when he decided he wanted more regular hours and time with his family. He then enrolled in the HVAC Program at North Idaho College. After completion he started working here to further his training. He is married to his high school sweetheart and they have three children. When not at work he likes to do family oriented things like camping and snowboarding. Team Member since 2022.
Tyler grew up in the Silver Valley and graduated from Wallace High School. While working for Walmart he took advantage of their education program and was training to be an electrician. He decided that HVAC would be a better fit and recently started working with JA Bertsch. Tyler enjoys fishing, hunting and huckleberry picking with his wife. Team Member since 2021.
Zach grew up in both Everett and Spokane Washington. When his Dad retired he moved to Coeur d’Alene and Zach joined him. He was looking for a career that was challenging but neither repetitive or dull. He feels that HVAC may be the career for him. In his spare time he likes to draw, hike and explore new places with his Australian Shepherd. Team member since 2023.
Reyna worked in a steel mill for 15 years and became their first ever female crew chief. After eloping to Coeur d’Alene which was her new husband’s home town they decided to move here. She worked at Ground Force Worldwide for four years where she was an inventory specialist. She is now bringing these skills to JA Bertsch. When not at work she loves to bass fish with her husband and spend time with her two stepsons. Team Member since 2021.
Steve’s first job was driving a float in the Disneyland parades 3 night a week. He then moved on to selling peanuts at Angels stadium and eventually spent 38 years delivering for Fed Ex. Once their four kids had grown up he and his wife moved to Coeur d’Alene to be closer to family. He and his wife met singing karaoke and they still do it together often. Team Member since 2022.
